Want to stay healthy for the long haul?

The science of living longer starts with nutrition. The quality of your life as you age is determined by a variety of factors—but did you know that many of them are within your control? The keys to achieving meaningful longevity lie in practicing smart, healthy life choices and harnessing the powerful health benefits of specific nutrients. We should know: we've been studying the science of aging for over 40 years! Here are three ways to maximize your longevity:

  1. Maintain youthful energy levels

Have you ever felt like you just can't do what you used to do? Age-related decline in energy production may be the culprit, and when these levels decline, your heart and other organs won't work the way they used to. Specific nutrients, though, help revitalize energy at the cellular level.

  2. Keep your cells working properly

As cells get older, some of them no longer function optimally, which can lead to health concerns. This is called cellular senescence. While we cannot stop cells from aging, we can help relieve the body's senescent cell burden with senolytics: nutrients that encourage the body's natural pathways for removing or recycling senescent cells.

  3. Fight oxidative stress

Free radical compounds can "stress out" your cells, which can affect their DNA, zap cellular energy production and more. Antioxidants and other nutrients help fight back! Explore more of our longevity supplements and maintain your youthful self.

Anti-Aging & Longevity Information & Research

1.

What is resveratrol?

Resveratrol is a plant compound that occurs in red grapes, red wine and Japanese knotweed. Resveratrol activates some of the metabolic pathways that stimulate youthful gene expression. It also supports healthy insulin response and healthy mitochondrial function.

2.

How do you help inhibit oxidative stress?

Antioxidants that include beta-carotene, vitamin C, vitamin E, zinc, selenium, glutathione and the amino acid L-cysteine can help inhibit oxidative stress. Although our diets provide small amounts of these nutrients, supplementation can boost antioxidant defenses to support optimal whole-body health.

3.

How can I age less quickly?

Subjecting your body to stress, including the cellular stressors of toxins, smoking and processed foods, causes an acceleration of the aging process, so it is important to avoid harmful substances in our environment and diet. The body also needs to be nutritionally replete and have an arsenal of antioxidants to combat aging, so it is important to eat variety of different colored fruits and vegetables and take a quality multivitamin. The nutrient resveratrol may also promote expression of some genes associated with longevity.
