Cleansing & Exfoliating Products

Cleansers & Exfoliators

Skin care success starts with a clean slate, so your first and most important step in your skincare routine is to cleanse your skin. Even before you apply any creams, serums or moisturizers, it is important to first wash, cleanse and then exfoliate your skin.

Suitable for dry and sensitive skin, a foaming cleanser with red, white and green tea extracts will gently wash away dirt, leaving behind fresh beautiful skin.

Exfoliating products like a self-microdermabrasion scrub will help buff away dirt, debris and dead skin cells that linger on the surface of your skin – even if you can’t visibly see them, they’re still there. An exfoliant is formulated to leave you with clean, healthy skin.

Why do I need a cleanser?

A high-quality facial cleanser cleans your skin while also replenishing natural moisture and hydration. A quality face cleanser is formulated with ingredients that nourish the skin, balance your complexion and re-hydrate your skin’s moisture levels.

Cleansers are gentle on the skin and don’t take away the natural oils necessary for maintaining healthy skin, so they are the perfect product for most skin types: normal, dry, sensitive and even combination.

What are the benefits of exfoliating?

When it comes to exfoliants, look for a high-quality self-microdermabrasion product that contains amber crystals to smooth skin and even out discoloration. As you buff away the old skin, you’ll also want to encourage and replenish new skin cell growth. Choose a formula that encourages collagen, elastin and antioxidant levels with support from green, red and white tea extracts.

When should I use a cleanser?

It is best to use a cleanser in the morning, each night before bed and after a long day of exposure to environmental factors and pollutants that may cause unwanted build up on your skin’s surface. Wet your face and apply a few drops of a cleanser into your palms and add water to create a lather. Apply to the surface of your skin and avoid the area around the eyes.

Massage into your face for one to two minutes in a circular motion. Make sure to thoroughly rinse all the cleanser away so your face is clean for your next skin care steps.

What ingredients are in an exfoliant?

Exfoliating particles such as crystals aren’t the only ingredients in a high-quality exfoliant; a formula should also have soothing agents. Once you’ve cleared away dirt and debris, properties from seaweed will help smooth and hydrate your skin, getting it ready for the next steps in your skin care routine. Finally, a high quality exfoliant will soothe the skin with calming essential oils like peppermint oil extract.

How do I exfoliate?

Make sure that your skin is wet, so it is best to use this product at the sink or in the shower. Squeeze a few drops of skin-exfoliating scrub into the palm of your hand (or a brush) and add in a few drops of water. Lather the surface of the skin and rub in circles to buff away excess oil, dirt and dead skin cells.

Avoid using on sensitive areas of the skin, especially around the eyes. Rinse thoroughly after lathering and make sure no exfoliating beads or amber crystals are left behind. It is best to use an exfoliant 3-4 times a week to polish and prime the skin before you take on any other skin care steps.

Are there exfoliators for sensitive skin?

If your skin is sensitive, a microdermabrasion-based exfoliant may be too harsh; you should discontinue the use of any exfoliant if you observe redness or other signs of irritation. Fortunately, if exfoliants are off the table for you, there are gentler and milder options to achieve that deep cleanse you need.

An alternative to exfoliating is a mild purifying facial mask with zinc oxide to help minimize oil build up and increase blood flow to the skin; this promotes a clear, healthy complexion. You should follow this mask with a mild cleanser fortified with herbs and other antioxidants to gently cleanse and clear the skin of impurities.
